A second-generation Polk County native, attorney Robert C. Chilton joined
Boswell & Dunlap, LLP in 2019, following fourteen years of practice
with Sharit, Bunn & Chilton, P.A. in Winter Haven. Robert’s
practice focuses on community association law, banking law, civil litigation
and guardianships. Following graduation from Winter Haven High School,
Robert earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in
Nashville, Tennessee and his law degree from Wake Forest University in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He then returned home to Polk County.
Robert is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating granted by
that independent publication, and licensed to practice in all state courts
in Florida and before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District
He devotes more than half of his practice to the field of community association
law. In addition to advising homeowners' associations (HOAs), condominiums,
cooperative assocations, owners, developers and other stakeholders concerning
the laws of planned development, Robert, certified by Florida’s
Department of Business and Professional Regulation, regularly hosts certification
seminars for the directors and officers of Central Florida homeowners’

In the realm of banking law, Robert is well versed and consistently engaged
in banking disputes of all kinds; from questions of account access and
ownership to issues of descent, trust and beneficiary status. In addition,
he routinely handles wage and account garnishments in each of Florida’s
67 counties. Robert’s dedication to each client is absolute, whether
that client is a simple account holder or a national bank.
Beyond the practice of law, Robert is dedicated to his community. He presently
serves on the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs
Committee, on the board of directors of the Polk Area Real Estate Council
and as Counselor of the Willson American Inn of Court. Robert has previously
chaired the Tenth Judicial Circuit’s Grievance Committee and served
as Special Magistrate for Polk County, on the board of directors of the
Auburndale Chamber of Commerce and on the Florida Bar’s Small Claims
Rules Committee. He and his family live in Lakeland, Florida.
