A second-generation native of Polk County, attorney Robert C. Chilton joined
Boswell & Dunlap, LLP in 2019, following fourteen years of practice
with Sharit, Bunn & Chilton, P.A. in Winter Haven. He is devoted to
family, community and the practice of law. Robert’s practice focuses
on community association law, banking law, civil litigation, guardianships
and elder law. Following graduation from Winter Haven High School, Robert
earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville,
Tennessee and his law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem,
North Carolina. He then returned home to Polk County.
Robert is licensed to practice in all state courts in Florida and before
the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is also
“AV” rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating granted
by that independent publication.
With respect to civil litigation, elder law and guardianships, Robert C.
Chilton is a valuable addition to Boswell & Dunlap, LLP’s experienced
team. His collegial manner, academic pedigree and attention to detail
augment the firm’s seasoned attorneys and ensure that each client
continues to receive elite representation.
Robert C. Chilton’s focus on banking law is unique. Robert is well
versed, and consistently engaged, throughout Florida, in banking disputes
of all kinds; from questions of account access and ownership to issues
of descent, trust and beneficiary status. In addition, he routinely handles
wage and account garnishments in all of Florida’s 67 counties. Robert’s
dedication to each client is absolute, whether that client is a simple
account holder or a national bank.
Rarer still is Robert C. Chilton’s concentration on the law of homeowners’
associations (HOAs), condominiums and cooperatives. Robert devotes more
than half of his practice to the field of community association law. In
addition to advising associations, homeowners, developers, unit owners
and other stakeholders concerning the laws of planned development, Robert,
certified by Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation,
regularly hosts certification seminars for the directors and officers
of Central Florida homeowners’ associations. If you need a community
association lawyer, Robert is here to help.
Beyond the practice of law, Robert C. Chilton is dedicated to his community.
He presently serves on the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Government
Affairs Committee, on the board of directors of the Polk Area Real Estate
Council and as Counselor of the Willson American Inn of Court. Robert
has previously chaired the Tenth Judicial Circuit’s Grievance Committee
and served as Special Magistrate for Polk County, on the board of directors
of the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce and on the Florida Bar’s Small
Claims Rules Committee. He and his family live in Auburndale, Florida.
