Do your part by drinking responsibly or planning a ride.
• Fireworks – The safest way to enjoy fireworks is at a licensed show. However, if you plan on using some of your own, make sure they are legal in your area and that you use them responsibly. Always use fireworks in an open area away from structures and other flammable items and watch closely if children are nearby.
• Water Safety – Cooling off at the beach, lake, or pool is a common Fourth of July pastime. If you’re enjoying the water, make sure to swim in designated areas near lifeguards and to never swim alone. Supervise children carefully and familiarize yourself with CPR and pool safety should the need for quick action ever arise.
• Grill Safety – What holiday weekend would be complete without a barbecue? If you’re planning on grilling, please do so safely. Inspect grills for leaks or breaks prior to use and clean grills after each session, use grills outdoors, and avoid overuse of lighter fluid. If children are nearby, keep a close eye on the grill and their whereabouts.
