Keith D. Miller is a partner in the law firm of Boswell & Dunlap LLP. Keith is a trial lawyer dealing in guardianship, elder law, estate planning, divorce, family law, criminal defense, commercial litigation, and appeals in all areas.
In the guardianship area, Keith represents both professional guardians and non-professional guardians in creating different types of guardianships for incapacitated persons, as well as elder types of issues, such as estate planning. In family law, Keith represents clients in divorces, custody matters, alimony, and child support matters, as well as any of the areas having to do with family law. Keith also represents defendants in criminal prosecutions, as well as commercial clients in any type of legal issues they may have. Keith represents businesses in need of legal representation, including but limited to corporations, LLC's, LLP's and small businesses. And Keith does nearly any type of appeals on final judgments in various areas of law.
Keith is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1970) with a Bachelors of Science in Management Science, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law in 1978. Keith was admitted to the Washington Bar in 1979 as has been practicing law since then, mostly as a private attorney. Besides his private practice, Keith served as Judge Pro-Tem and Magistrate for the County Courts of King County, Washington, as well as an arbitrator for the Superior Court of King County, Washington.
Upon his return home to Bartow, Florida, Keith was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998, and for a short period of time, Keith served as an assistant state prosecutor, before joining Boswell & Dunlap as a partner. Keith has been admitted into practice before all the Washington and Florida State Courts, the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington; U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; and the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Keith is a graduate of various army schools, including the Army Command and General Staff College, as well as the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks. Keith is also a retired Lieutenant-Colonel of Infantry, United States Army, having served on active duty and in the reserves.
In the past, Keith has served as president of the Peace River Country Club, president of the Bartow Kiwanis Club, an Associate Professor at Webber College from 2000 - 2002, an active board member of the BESTT Committee, an active member of his church, and serves on various municipal committees, both in the past and presently. He is also a Master in the Willson Inn of Court, a legal organization modeled on the English Inns of Court.
A native of Bartow, Keith lives with his wife, Christine, and they have four children, all in various states of adulthood.
